Position Descriptions:

Hydraulics/Hydrology Engineer – Professional Engineer with 5-10 years experience with stormwater hydraulics and an emphasis on highway drainage systems evaluation, design, and implementation, knowledge of standard hydraulics software a must. Microstation or AutoCAD experience a plus, South Carolina/North Carolina PE or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.

Roadway Engineer with 4-6 yrs experience in Roadway Design including geometric design, highway design standards, roadway specifications, and preparation of construction plans. Experience in drainage design, traffic design, and work zone traffic control a plus. Microstation, AutoCAD, and MS Excel experience a plus. EIT (PE preferred). Candidate must have strong organizational, verbal communication, and analytical skills.

Engineering Technician with 5-10 years experience required in engineering plans production, technical design & drafting, CAD standards, and assembly of construction plans and documents. Microstation or AutoCAD proficiency a must. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products a plus. Salary based on qualifications, excellent benefits package, EEO.

Technical Sales Engineer– Charleston, SC

 

Position Description:

Contech Construction Products is seeking a dynamic and talented Technical Sales Engineer to support our team in the Charleston, SC area.

Sales Engineers work closely with engineering consultants, contractors and government officials providing engineering expertise and problem-solving advice. Under the direction of the Region Manager, promotes and sells CONTECH’S construction products to recognized or potential customers and dealers in an assigned geographic territory. Conducts all administrative matters incident to such sales in accordance with established policies and procedures. Works with minimal supervision.


Primary Responsibilities:

· Works as a collaborative member of our sales team to sell company products.
· Conducts sales presentations.
· Obtains favorable specifications for our products
· Manages sales with and through distribution and developing quotes & orders.
· Provides sales support for multiple projects. Consistently follow up on projects.
· Provides project support for submittals, production and product delivery during construction.
· Maintains engineering processes and procedures.
· Identifies and develops territory potential. With minimal supervision, plans and organizes territory coverage and sales approach to assure most effective development of assigned sales territory in order to meet or exceed established objectives.
· Develops and maintains statistical data on competitors' products, quality, sales, pricing, production facilities, limitations and marketing procedures.
· Using Region Manager guidelines, negotiates terms and conditions of sales contracts involving sales price, discounts, freight, delivery, rejected or excess material disposition, etc., to assure a profit and a high level of customer satisfaction. Gathers necessary information for determination of credit worthiness by Headquarters. Monitors transactions through completion, including collections, in consultation with inside sales, and assists in resolving any discrepancies or making any changes during the course of the transaction.
· Investigates customer complaints and claims through on-site visits when appropriate to determine merit and proper action, recommends adjustments or allowances, and advises customer of final disposition. Communicates commercial policies and practices to customers as necessary to assist them or to resolve any problem incident to the sale of CONTECH products.
· Contacts established and prospective customers in assigned sales territory to provide close personal service; seeks out and develops new accounts and product applications, and increases market share.
· Develops information on competitive price situations; verifies and analyzes quotations as to CONTECH’S ability to meet customer proposals and makes recommendations to the Region Manager.
· Interfaces with customer representatives to ascertain project requirements and provide any necessary technical assistance or service. Gathers pertinent project information, and provides explanations and direction to customer on products and applications.
· Performs plan takeoffs in conjunction with quotations and orders, prepares quotations, develops shipping schedules, writes and submits orders to Regional Office and/or plants. Maintains contact with plants to coordinate production, inventory, shipping and delivery matters.
· Continually improves product knowledge through familiarization with all product literature, design specifications, field and laboratory test results, and hands-on experience in the field and manufacturing plants.


Basic Qualifications:

· BS or MS in Civil or related engineering field; or its demonstrated equivalent, expertise gained through training and knowledge of CONTECH products and their use.

· EIT or PE certification preferred but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· 1 to 2 years experience in site civil projects

· Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation.

· Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, CRM software, basic CAD)

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Project Manager– Bluffton, SC

 

Position Description:

Seeking Project Manager for growing civil engineering firm with office located in Bluffton, SC. Responsible for project management for commercial, residential and industrial developments, industrial park design, storm drainage systems, water and wastewater systems, roadway design and landfill projects. Management of water and wastewater studies. Must have 6+ years of experience in managing all aspects of projects, including permitting to various regulatory agencies, administration of bidding and award of projects, and construction administration and observation. Must be registered PE.

Bridge Engineer – URS Corporation – Greenville, SC

 

Position Description:

Responsibilities/Objectives:

Technical

  • Work will include structural design calculations and preparation of bridge construction plans for SC projects under supervision of managing engineer.
  • Will coordinate design of bridges and/or transportation related structures with roadway design group and/or other project team members.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education, Registration, Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or appropriate discipline.
  • Registration and designation as a Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Ability to obtain SC PE within 6 months.

 

Experience:

  • Min 5 years of relevant experience on bridge design projects.
  • Master’s degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • PhD degree in related engineering discipline can substitute for up to 3 years of experience.

 

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications and SCDOT bridge design policies and standards.
  • Experience with prestressed and cast-in-place concrete design and steel design. Experience with spliced, post-tensioned member design a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SCDOT Seismic Design Criteria is a plus.
  • Capable of functioning with spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard bridge design software for the position such as Microstation v8, CONSPAN, RC-PIER, MERLIN-Dash, Mathcad, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and take on larger, more complex tasks.
  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Will require occasional visits to project sites.
  • Valid driver license.

SC Council of Engineering and Surveying Societies is Taking Applications for Seats on SC State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors

 

Governor Nikki Haley has the opportunity to appoint two qualified Professional Engineers to the SC State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors for terms beginning January 1, 2012.


Each engineering and surveying member of the Registration Board must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of South Carolina, must be licensed in this state, must have been engaged in the practice of engineering or surveying in this state for at least twelve (12) years, and must have been in responsible charge of important engineering or surveying work for at least five (5) years. Responsible charge of teaching engineering may be construed as responsible charge of engineering work.

 

The primary responsibility of board members is to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public of South Carolina.

 

The South Carolina Council of Engineering and Surveying Societies is charged, by law, to make recommendations to the Governor from which she must appoint engineers and surveyors to the Registration Board.


The South Carolina Council of Engineering and Surveying Societies is accepting letters of application from Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors who meet the state’s minimum requirements that wish to be considered for the two Registration Board positions.

 

Current Registration Board members, Mr. Cecil Huey and Mr. Andy Kinghorn are not seeking re-appointment for another five year term.

 

The deadline for applications with the SC Council of Engineering and Surveying societies is August 31, 2011.
